Sentient is Officially Cool: Sentient Named a 2016 Gartner Cool Vendor for Retail

Although we’ve long been assured of our own coolness internally, it’s finally official. We’re proud to announce Sentient Technologies has been named a Gartner “Cool Vendor in Retail” for 2016!

A little background here: Gartner has been around since the late 70’s and is the world’s leading IT research and advisory company. They publish reports and recommendations about leading technologies, deliver thousands of IT benchmarks, as well as consult 80% of Fortune 500 companies. Basically, they’re really good at helping businesses run better.

On our side, Sentient’s retail product is called Sentient Aware. It’s our artificial intelligence-powered visual search product. Put simply, Aware helps shoppers find the products they love quickly and easily. It uses images and their relationships to each other to tease out subtle patterns and pick up on a shopper’s individual sense of style. After all, search is all about intent and Aware understands that buyer intent, even if the shopper themselves can’t quite articulate exactly what they’re looking for.
