Want to learn a little–or get a quick refresher–about conversion rate optimization? Well, you’re in luck. We’ve compiled a list with a few of our favorite resources below, touching on everything from the basics of CRO to step-by-step playbooks on not just how to optimize, but what to optimize.
The beginner’s guide to CRO
A CRO legend (and Sentient Ascend partner!), Brian Massey’s “A beginner’s guide to CRO,” gives you a quick, hands-on overview of testing. A great place to start learning or reinforce a few things you might’ve forgotten about.
Moz: 5 Step Framework for CRO
This article is great because Paddy starts with understanding your business objectives and what challenges your customers are facing before talking about what to test and how. Paddy highlights an interesting challenge for CROs who want to scale their efforts and that is the fact that most folks can only do one experiment at a time. (hint, we can help you do dozens of experiments at a time. Just sayin’.)
Forbes: 6 Things You May Not Know About Conversion Optimization
Neil Patel covers some great topics in his CRO article including A/A testing, which is setting a baseline before you get going with your optimization campaigns. Like Paddy, Patel also stresses the importance of understanding your audience before you start jumping into testing. Not only is this a great way to prioritize what you want to test, it is a great source of ideas!
Qualaroo: What is Conversion Rate Optimization
This is a sweet little article that covers some basic CRO definitions. One thing we like is how Qualaroo defines conversion rate optimization: “A structured and systematic approach to improving the performance of your website.” Check out Peep Laja’s Facebook group if you want to join the conversation on what CRO really means.
Unbounce: Conversion Optimization Rule Book
Like Paddy’s article on Moz, Unbounce provides a great step-by-step playbook for executing a CRO campaign. This one is a little lighter and highlights a great source for customer insights: your support team!
Also like Paddy’s article, Unbounce’s plan highlights a flaw in how we test today, which is that you should only test one thing at a time to ensure you understand how you impacted results. This is limiting and prevents you from testing all your ideas. Check out our product if you want to learn how artificial intelligence eliminates this problem from your testing framework.
BONUS! Disruptive Advertising: Artificial Intelligence Meets Site Optimization
Did you know that “just 1 out of every 7 A/B tests actually produces meaningful results?” In this article, Chris Dayley discusses how artificial intelligence can overcome some of the limitations marketers face when doing traditional A/B testing. Hint: It has something to do with us;)
We hope you find these resources as useful as we did and that they help you understand a little more about why CRO is so important to growing any business. To learn more about how Sentient Ascend, check out our site and let us know how we can help.
